Cabrillo Playhouse 2024

The Cabrillo Playhouse in the heart of beautiful San Clemente. This pint-sized community theater features plays, variety shows, concerts & more in a cozy space.

We have season tickets for the 2023-2024 season.

The first play in 2024 was A comedy of tenors. It's 1930s Paris and the stage is set for the concert of the century – as long as producer Henry Saunders can keep Italian superstar Tito Merelli and his hot-blooded wife, Maira, from causing runaway chaos. Prepare for an uproarious ride, full of mistaken identities, bedroom hijinks, and madcap delight.

After the play we went to Denny's for cream filled crapes.

Cabrillo Playhouse presents The 39 Steps adapted by Patrick Barlow from the novel by John Buchan. Mix a Hitchcock masterpiece with a juicy spy novel, add a dash of Monty Python and you have The 39 Steps, a fast-paced whodunit for anyone who loves the magic of theatre. This two-time Tony and Drama Desk Award-winning treat is packed with nonstop laughs, over 150 zany characters (played by a ridiculously talented cast of four), an onstage plane crash, handcuffs, missing fingers, and some good old-fashioned romance.

When Annie’s husband John dies of leukemia, she, and her long-standing best friend Chris resolve to raise money for a new settee in the local hospital waiting room. With varying levels of encouragement, they persuade four friends and fellow members of the Women’s Institute to pose nude with them for an “alternative” calendar. They are assisted by hospital porter and amateur photographer Lawrence, who looked after John in his final days. The success of the calendar goes beyond their wildest dreams and they have soon raised the money needed and much more.

It's a Wonderful Life: A Live Radio Play

The show is based on the classic holiday movie with a clever twist thrown in: the story is staged as a live radio broadcast! Actors portray numerous characters, and sound effects are done through Foley artists. It's a Wonderful Life is about the life of George Bailey, a generous and well-meaning man who has become too downcast and tired to continue living. It will take help from a lovable angel to show George what life would be like if he wasn't born for George to have a change of heart and understand the true spirit of the holidays.
